How To Add A Women-Led Icon To Your Law Firm's Google Business Listing

In 2017 Working Mother 50 Best Law Firms for Women! Working Mother recognized U.S. law firms that create and use best practices in retaining and promoting women lawyers. However, leadership positions at firms for women remain stagnant at 20 percent. The good news is, based on our own anecdotal evidence at the agency, women are starting and running their own thriving firms.

As part of their celebration of International Women’s Day earlier this year, Google made it possible for businesses to add a new “women-led” icon to their My Business profile, which appears in Google Maps and local listings search results. 

The icon is designed to help highlight businesses that are owned, led, or founded by women. It will appear in the overview section of the business’ attributes once it’s been enabled, as you can see in the screen capture (provided by Google) below:

How To Add Google’s Women-Led Icon

If you would like to add the new women-led icon to your law firm’s My Business listing, it’s really quite easy. Just follow these steps:

1. Go to your My Business dashboard (and select your firm if you have more than one listing).
2. Click “Info” on the left-side menu.
3. Scroll to “Add attributes” on the right side and click the pencil icon.
4. Click on the “+ Women-Led” button to add it to your listing.
5. Click the “Apply” button.
